Suprisingly Good!

This album is incredible, a great suprise to stumble across over the main page. The Blakes have many different sounds not only from their instruments but also from their vocalist. Best 3 examples from this album would be Picture, Pistol Grip, and Vampire, but to be honest I would just download the whole album. This Album will not dissapoint anyone who likes Indie Music.

If you don't buy this then there is something wrong with you.

I was looking around in the next big thing sale and to my surprise I found this. The Blakes are now officially one of my favorite bands. There is something on this album for everybody. From the raw energy of Two Times, to the Rolling Stones-esque style of Modern Man, and the corny, catchy calming melodies of Lint Walk. There's is probably only around four songs on this stunning debut that I don't listen to often and even they are better than most music that is made these days. Some points I should bring up are that this album is more than affordable (for now), it comes with TWO bonus tracks, and they are on an indie label so some old dinosaur isn't raking in all of your money so he can blow it on some bar tab (not to say that I wouldn't still buy it if they were on Virgin or something). The most important part is that these guys make great music. I've had this album for close to a month now and each time I listen to it the songs still sound fresh. I really think these guys have a bright future ahead of them in music. The lyrics are great too (I can't tell you how much I identify with Commit). So buy this album, then go buy the two tracks not included here which are on the Streets EP, then go and find their newest song called Magic that you can get legally for free at soundonthesound.com and you should be set until these guys decide to go and record some more. My personal faves are: Two Times, Magoo, Pistol Grip, Lookin 4 Love Again, Commit, and Don't Want That Now.

Taking inspiration from early-'60s Brit rock and the D.I.Y. spirit of punk, the Blakes are comprised of Garnet Keim (vocals, guitar), Snow Keim, and Bob Husak (drummer). The power trio took root in 2001, when the Maine-born Keim siblings (who had been busking across the country since the late '90s, working odd jobs and writing music) met Husak at a Seattle coffeehouse. The Keims were impressed with Husak's percussion, likening its energy to that of the Who's Keith Moon, and the three relocated to...
