fish day huh?
Blank Stares and Broken Words is definitely an evolution from OncetheSuns' previous works. While I enjoy their past works and the great live performances(the cool thing is you get to see how they feel when they play, and when things get heavy, they friggin' rock!), It's nice to see some good solid song writing. you can tell they work hard at being a tight-knit band, who doesn't give all the glory to just one member of the band. The production quality is not what it should be, but I don't think they have Mommy and Daddy paying for them to do this, either. I would say the production gets a 7 out of 10, which really isn't that bad, for a local act. You can clearly make out all the insruments, the vocals, as always sound fantastic, the guitars are definitely heard, the bass, drums, and keyboards are also well noticed as well. It is just that some parts are a little louder than others. I guess balancing out 7 instuments isn't easy after all. I been a fan of OncetheSun for quite some time, and I make it to almost ALL of their shows, and I can tell you this: OncetheSun has never played Fish day, and probably never will. I am looking forward and always hopeful for their new album, which I guess they are recording this fall, 2009. I am giving it 4 stars because, well, the production isn't all there, but this is still a great sounding album that displays talent, ambition, emotion, and some pretty decent production for the audio masses. And hey, it's $5, why not?

I saw this band at Fish Day in Port washington. I thought they were a High School band that just got the gig to fill in for a better band that dropped out. Seriously? This is the finished product?

I dont really enjoy any songs off this album but there first demo cd had this song that in the beginning said "and im sorry" that was by far the peak of this bands career. Anyone reading this you should search high and low for that song "and im sorry". But if i had to listen to this cd or get waterboarded...id choose to drown. ...p.s. thats sum good turkey larry!
