Good Mix of old and newgrass
I think this is a nice group of tunes for the price and there is not really a lame song on it. I think anyone who is new to bluegrass or someone who just wants a mix of some folks they have not listen to before should get this.
Talent
I love good bluegrass. This album is overflowing with talent, big names, and some others that I want now to become more familiar with. I hope Rounder keeps on signing them up and cutting their wonderful tunes!
Great Album, Weird Marketing
I wouldn't disagree that this is a great album--the music and the artists are hard to argue with. However, this is the second Bluegrass Sampler that Rounder has put out in the last year with some innocent looking vixen underneath a tree. What's the deal? The first album, "Bluegrass Number 1's" was an equally impressive set list with an innocent, attractive woman carrying a banjo case. Now she is on a blanket with a bunch of albums. What's next? I just think it's a bit silly (at best) and misogynistic (at worst)--the music is good enough that the label shouldn't have to sex it up in order to sell it.
