Fantastic Album
This album is the exact definition of Electropop. You could compare them to The Postal Service, but they take electronic rock to a new a level... they actually rock! Each song is great in it's own way. I loved the different styles and beats each track brought to the table. BUY THIS NOW!
Electronic? Why wait?
This is a solid album, plain and simple. Great beats, great guitars, great vocals, good gravy. The New Monarchs have made a solid first impression for their first major release. Buy it and enjoy. Also, if you get a chance, see these guys live - they totally rock!
A Solid Album
Blueprints is a solid album. I have very few complaints about the sound the New Monarchs bring to bear with their debut album. (Note: all of my complaints are of the nitpicky reviewer type, that is to say you can ignore them, but I'll write them anyway.) I agree with Meloncon's statement that they can be compared with the Postal Service, as far as genre goes. The difference between the New Monarchs and the Postal Service is the difference between four stars and five. What the Postal Service does better... well that's a hard sentence to finish. How about this sentence, what I would like to see from the New Monarchs next album: firstly I'd like to see some lyrical bravery, tackle some issues beyond urban angst, I'm tired of concrete facades and echo effects; secondly, I'd like to see some musical bravado, their first album tells me they are competent musicians, but if they want to stand out from the crowd they are going to have to do some woodshedding. Last sentence, The New Monarchs are a band with some promise, but right now they're stuck in the duldrums.
