Not every single track you'll ever want or need by the legendary shave-and-a-haircut rhythm R&B/rock pioneer, but a great place to begin. Two discs (45 songs) in a great big box with a nice accompanying booklet contain the groundbreaking introduction "Bo Diddley" (never again would he be referred to as Ellas McDaniel), its swaggering flipside "I'm a Man," the killer follow-ups "Diddley Daddy," "I'm Looking for a Woman," "Who Do You Love?," and "Hey Bo Diddley;" signifying street-corner humor ("Say Man"), piledriving rockers ("Road Runner," "She's Alright," "You Can't Judge a Book by Its Cover"), and numerous stunning examples of his daringly innovative guitar style.

I cannot convey in words how good this is.

Bo Diddley is possibly the most under-appreciated, overlooked and influential artist of the 20th century (one of the most, anyway.) The box set (which is an excellent value--$20 for 45 songs) proves this. "Bo Diddley" is one of the best songs ever recorded--no wonder it never hit the top ten. You've all heard "I'm a Man" in one of its various incarnations. I could go on and on about every song on this collection. For those who already "Know Bo", this is a extremely comprehensive collection (almost everything he's done is out of print). When I heard "Bo Diddley" for the first time, I impulsively bought this entire box set. I immediately regretted my rash decision. But when I actually started to listen to the tracks, all doubts left my mind. This is probably the best purchase I've ever made.

Among the first rock n' roll songs I ever heard on radio was "You Can't Judge a Book By Lookin' At The Cover" and I never forgot it but never heard it again until this album made it available. I've played it nearly 40 times now and it is still infectious!! Danceable rock n' roll from the '50's! While Bo's self-titled single "Bo Diddley" is what most people seem to like, "Book" is what does it for me! Also enjoy "I'm A Man", "Before You Accuse Me" and "Who Do You Love?"

Bo Diddley is So influnetial to music its easy to forget how great his music really is. This Box Set Does a great job of reminding those who are fans and track after track will convert those who don't know... will now know why Bo Diddley is the only artist who has a beat named after him.
