Swinging Trumpet style
Bobby Hackett was able to lead a swinging New York style jazz group playing some of the old chestnuts, as well as sound wondrful with a melodic style of jazz Trumpet that was enjoyable backed by orchestra and strings. These selections are primarily Hackett with small combo playing tunes you would call Dixieland standards. There are also some selections that feature his ability to play a beautiful melody, some pop songs, and even blues. This album features Bobby Hackett and his Trumpet on tunes you will recognise and enjoy. It is not driving, feet stomping jazz similar to that played at Eddie Condon's in NYC. But it is very good Bobby Hackett.
