Highbench taking flight
Highbench has crafted an artistic web of sections that are chillingly contagious and bone chilling and just flat out interesting. The Keane like atmosphere with a twist of the Killers that would make Brandon Flowers scratch his head wondering how his northern Utah County counterpart got loose. However, these influences are no traces of evidence that have been left on there collective sleeves. Their influence is their own, and Western's vocal tones are spot on and ethereal. Instrumentally, Muir has transformed his guitar parts with a more intellectual, emotionally driven simplicity, but is not afraid to send it home with some punchier aggressive parts. A good musician, in my opinion, is someone who can create parts that hover above and around the melody of the song but make it weave and intertwine throughout the song seamlessly. That is what seperates you from the pack and Highbench has achieved this graduating aspect of songwriting. Highbench is now on my watch list!
