iTunes Review

With 1987’s Electric, the Cult transformed themselves into a guitar-heavy hard rock band that quoted the riffs and history of the genre with an unapologetic swagger. Singer Ian Astbury took his classic rock pose to its logical conclusion, singing as Jim Morrison’s replacement in a reformation of the original Doors. With guitarist Billy Duffy adding his arsenal of classic guitar riffs, the Cult treat 2007 just as they treated 1987, with few nods to current trends and a dedication to the timeless hard rock/ heavy metal poses and riffs that have kept the music alive for decades. The title track doesn’t catch the fire it intends, but “Citizens” uses a swirling riff and a desperate rasp to get things on track for the buckling Guns n’ Roses inspired “Diamonds” and the Rolling Stones inspired “Dirty Little Rockstar.” Astbury’s vocals border on parody when he turns the vibrato on high and, granted, nothing new is invented throughout this grinding process. But “Holy Mountain” offers the duo’s softer side (bassist and drummer are hired hands) and “I Assassin” boogies past with dedication. The Cult are determined to rage against the dying of the light.

Return of The Cult !!!

It's been so long. Every Cult album has it's own style and they stay in that style for that album only. Then they change for the next one. I wish they would change styles within the album to make everyone happy. This albumn is not as heavy as Sonic Temple or Beyond Good and Evil, and it's not as Alternative sounding as Love or the self titled Cult album. This album is a good middle ground. Tiger in the Sun is my favorite so far. I've loved the Cult since I was 14 years old and heard the song Edie. Ian and Billy rule. The Cult is my favorite band along side Depeche Mode and iDiC. I was worried the Cult might be gone forever but they haven't let us down. Please don't ever stop. The world needs the Cult.

Well folks, they did it!!!

Okay so the Cult made us wait 6 years in between studio releases and thankfully they didn't disappoint!! Wow! They really did it "Cult" style! Great tracks like "Illuminated" , "Tiger in the Sun" and "I Assassin." Also, don't forget to check out the bonus tracks "War Pony Destroyer" and 'Stand Alone." Astbury's vocals sound stronger than they've been in a long time, and Duffy's guitars are sounding so all encompassing....So, underrated this band is, and a younger generation has an opportunity to acquiant themselves w/ what real, quality, no-nonsense rock music sounds like, not this over-produced chunder-funk on the the mass market drone ear...."Oh, you want me to enjoy this artists because you are forcing it down my throat....oh okay. I'm a mindless drone and I'll just listen to whatever you tell me is cool." PLEASE!!!!!

This CD Rocks!

Don't listen to the haters. This is good stuff!
