Unique sound

This really is one of the best Christian rock albums of the decade, but it may take more than one listen to really appreciate it. Steve Taylor's influence is evident and I think it adds a lot to the record. The best songs in my opinion are Are We Feeling Comfortable Yet?, Bottle Rocket and What Does It Take? Queen Esther is a good piece as well.

Anakin Couldn't Be More Wrong

Sorry Anakin, but it's time to get your head out of 1987. Hair metal is dead. It certainly was fun while it lasted, but those days are long gone. As for Bottle Rocket, this is Guardian's best album, hands down! The writing is brilliant (having Steve Taylor pitch in didn't hurt), the musicianship is top-notch and clever - thank heaven they found a way to be heavy without all those metal cliche's - and the production has the sound literally jumping out of the speakers. Too bad it all went downhill after this...Truly the band's high point creatively.

Saving the 90s.

This album came out in the beginning of the late 90s heavy music drought. Secular music was getting boring, hard rock and heavy metal were dead, and Christian music was finally catching up. Christian metal bands were all turning grunge, even after grunge was dead. There was no good music anymore. Along came Guardian. Sure they were yet another Christian hard rock/ heavy metal band who went alternative, but they did something new. The result was Bottle Rocket, an amazing album full of great songs, thoughtful lyrics, creative production, and damn good music. I don't care about Christian or non-Christian, this was one of the very best albums of the late 90s musical void - period.
