Hauntingly Beautiful

Two classics infused with new life as interpreted by Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon. Anthems to causes then and now and ultimately reflections on life's fragility, these acoustic wonders serve well this new decade. Two greats and two great pieces.

Both amazing

'Boy In The Bubble' seems so perfectly suited for Peter Gabriel, and his version is haunting. And Paul Simon's 'Biko' has a tenderness to it that changes Gabriel's impassioned anthem into something very personal, with just as much emotional pull as the first.

Amazing Boy in the Bubble

Boy in the bubble is one of those songs that has I have treasured over the years because I have never owned a recording of it. Some of the live versions get a bit ragged and silly. What an amazing take on a great song. It is a great song in part because it can be done in completely different ways that totally work. I love the lines that seem dated like "lasers in the jungle." The song captured a certain time. Remember when it was a big deal to actually make a long distance call. You could really get people to hustle on the other end of the line if it was long distance. Simon also does a good job, but the Bubble arrangement, the vocal and the mood are amazing. I wish the music industry did more stuff like this. They might make some money. It is worth supporting.
