Album Review
The soundtrack to Mel Gibson's 1995 multi-Oscar winning tale about 13th century Scottish knight Sir William Wallace, Braveheart is one of James Horner's most critically acclaimed film scores. Nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and Golden Globe, the 18 instrumental pieces, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, draw heavily on Celtic/Scottish influences, and feature bagpipes, atmospheric flutes, and bodhran drums to create several authentic, melancholic, and emotionally stirring symphonies. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

Hands Down The Best Soundtrack Available
This is the absolute best soundtrack availiable. There are many beautiful relaxing tracks. You can totally relax while listening to Tracks 1,2,4,7,16,18. If you are interested in the battle tracks then I would suggest. 5,6,9,10,13. If you really like this soundtrack then you will also like The Last Samurai written by Hans Zimmer. I also suggest Meet Joe Black written by Thomas Newman, Its not on Itunes but every track on the CD is great.
Mr. Horner's best
The pure beauty of melancholy, the celebration of life and the resolution given by death, the soaring highs and foreboding lows, all framed with Celtic instruments. Youll weap, you'll run like the wind, every feeling found in the human rainbow of emotion can be found here. Stunning. A work of divine inspiration.
James Horner at his best
I love this album. It is what I consider to be his best work in the field of Celtic music. He always writes great music. My only problem with this album is that he uses some of the thematic material in other scores, and it is very deceiving to hear it go somewhere else than what he does in this score. Still, a very good score. If you want to experience the sounds of the highlands, buy this album.
