Mario broadens his horizons with his fourth album, a dramatic effort that reaches well beyond the parameters of R&B. D.N.A. still delivers R&B in the mold of Mario’s previous work — the sweet “Thinkin’ About You” and the lustful “Ooh Baby” are two of the album’s best songs — but the bulk of the material has more in common with Beyonce and Rihanna, female powerhouses who made their biggest hits by merging R&B, club, rock, and pop music. “Soundtrack to My Broken Heart” echoes the emotional vocal and determined guitar riff of Beyonce’s “If I Was A Boy,” while “Don’t Walk Away” is a confessional breakup song akin to Rihanna’s “Rehab.” That Mario is able to inhabit the same emotional space as those female superstars says a lot about his talents as a vocalist. The singer is starting to make music with cross-genre appeal, but he also knows how to put a fresh spin on old ideas. Two of the album’s most memorable tracks —“Starlight” and “Before She Said Hi”— are classic disco rhythms made new by heavy drums and catchy hooks.

Here we go break up 4.5/5 This is a good opener and is obviously a song about him suffering a break up mario duz his thing along with sean garrett and guccis verse allows u to think positively about break ups hence his line "on to the next one more fish in the sea miss 1 next 15 one comin" nxt song thinkin bout u 4.5/5 he abviously just got over break up and decides to go to a party to clear his mind and begins to like another girl. great lyrics and great singing as always. now get out 4.5/5 seems like he got together with the girl in thinkin bout u n he gets in a fight n breaks up yet again good story people can relate to it. next soundtrack to my broken heart 4.5/5 the beat is great the song is amazing and u can really feel the emotion behind it and again it ties into the previous song just like all of the other songs forming a storyline out of the album such as a book would do with its chapters. next is starlight 4.5/5 in this song he tries to get over the break up yet again and tries to find another girl which is the recurring theme of this album. the beat is great and it has a catchy hook. a great dance song. On to stranded 4.5/5 again he breaks up and this time he says its for good. You can also feel the emotion in this song as well and it has great lyrics and a great hook. the best line is "sex with no emotion is nothin to tak about" The next song is ooh baby 4.5/5 again he tries to find another girl to distract him from his previous problem. this song had great production as did all the other songs, but there's something familiar yet unfamiliar about the beat. the lyrics and beat are very catchy and people can relate as with the rest of the album as well. Now before she said hi 4.5/5 the emotion in this one is also felt but it starts out a little slow. he claims hes ready to settle down and hes falling in love with a girl the hook is amazing and the vocals are also great it has a range of tones. Big seans guest appearance i thot was unnecessary, but it gives it diversity. The last four songs are the deepest emotionally and lyrically and his most personal the first song of the last four is i choose you 5/5 this is a very heartfelt song and is very very deep emotionally its also about a relationship that ended and wonders about what might hav ben but he tells the girl hell always be there for her. great vocals great lyrics great hook and great beat. The next song dont walk away 4.5/5 he talks about how he made mistakes in his relationship and how he doesnt want the girl to leave him. the vocals and lyrics are great and the hook is very touching. The last two songs are the deepest and if you hav ever had something like this happen you will cry i kno i did. The first of the last two is i miss my friend 5/5 everything about this song is perfect. This song talks about his former gf and how he misses her but most importantly he misses her being ther as his friend and hes just reminiscing about all the everyday things he used to do with her and now he does them alone. the hook is great and very reminiscing. The last song and the most powerful in my opinion is the hardest moment. 5/5 the lyrics the production everything is on key this song will make you cry for sure it talks about his breakup and how its over for real the hook is amazing part of it is "a man that aint afraid to cry is a man that aint afraid to die" overall this is a great soul/r&b album and i highly recomend it. This album has soul which a lot of newly released albums lack. This album is also an actual story and mario himself said it was very personal so u can tell a lot of thought went into it. Each song leads to the next and connects the stroy i recommend it. i give the album 5/5.
