Not surprised
Sumerian has an eye for great bands and this band fits right in. One of the most beautiful yet brutal albums I have ever heard. This band has the absolute perfect blend of singing and growling vocals. The singing is excellent, instrumental work is outstanding and this band's growling vocalist is one of the best I have ever heard (give Phil Bozeman from Whitechapel a run for his money on the lows).

Very impressive
This band could be a serious contender in a match against other supposed "deathcore" bands, due to the level of brutality and punishment these guys dish out. Then throw the high-pitched singing that frequents this album, similar to the singing of "We Came As Romans" , and it turns this band into a very unique addition to the metal scene in general. Also, the keyboard adds a beautiful, yet haunting atmosphere to this album. I am always eager to hear new takes on the fusing of various musical styles. "Betraying the Martyrs" offers a very ferocious onslaught of all kinds of music blended together.
Atmospheric. Brutal. Aggressive. Well-structured.
This is a quality album.
