AOR at its best.
Heart entered the 90s with their power rock album Brigade. Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson decided to bring Producer Ritchie Zito in for this album, even while Ron Nevison's direction garnered Heart commercial success with the '85 self titled album, and then again with Bad Animals in '87 Ritchie Zito continued that success with the Brigade album. It begins heavy with "Wild Child", perhaps to keep the attraction of Heart's heavy following. "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You" the controversial power ballad is a major selling point in this album. The whole album is packed with power ballads, like "Secret" and "Stranded". For an AOR album like this, packed with music from the greatest songwriters of the era; Mutt Lange (Wild Child, All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You), Sammy Hagar (The Night, Fallen From Grace), Holly Knight (Tall Dark Handsome Stranger, I Love You), Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg (I Want Your World To Turn) and Diane Warren (I Didn't Want To Need You, Cruel Nights), the album feels something reminiscent of a Def Leppard production. I recommend that any Heart fan own this album.
