Like a fine wine Edie just keeps getting better!
I have had this album for a a couple weeks now and I simply can not say enough about it. I eagerly awaited the arrival as I saw Edie perform songs from it the past few times I have seen her play live (and if you have not seen her live ... what are you waiting for!!!.. she is outstanding and always willing to take a moment to speak to her fans... truly an artist and an an amazing talent)... and the album does not disappoint. Sometimes on a CD you get 1 great song and few good songs and the rest are just filler. No no no... not here friends... this is all meat and no filler. Every song is beautifully crafted and just ... breathtaking.
The best Edie album YET -- and that's saying a lot!
The album starts so strongly with "Love" and continues to get better and better along the way. The production is light, supportive, clean and beautiful -- never distracting. Edie's amazing voice is always front and center where it belongs. Standouts for me are "You Sold Me," "Come Inside," "Love," and "With You Now." The only problem with the album coming out today is that this means we'll have to wait another long while for the NEXT Edie Carey record. In the meantime, go see Edie when she swings through your town. You won't regret it! :)
Lovely...
I waited quite a while before writing anything here. I have listened to this CD many times now and feel justified saying that this is a truly lovely collection of songs from an amazing singer/songwriter. Each song in and off itself is a gem but collectively they make for an inspired musical experience. Do yourself a favor, buy it, listen to it all the way through...over and over. You won't regret it.
