What do you expect??? its BLUEGRASS PEOPLE!!!
by austin2so interesting to see all the reviews out here comparing this to def leppard. cmon people THIS IS BLUEGRASS WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?? HELLO????
here's an honest review -- if you LIKE bluegrass musics and are familiar with def leppard's songs, this is probably going to appeal to you. having been to 3 def leppard concerts and having most of their cds, i would declare myself a fan. but, also being a fan of bluegrass music i have to say that his is well done -- IF you like this style of music.
for those who don't LIKE this style of music -- WHY are you listening to it? there are these novel items attached to your computer called a mouse, and a keyboard. GO RATE the music that YOU LIKE, DON'T tear down OTHER music just because you want to compare.
Interesting if you have an open mind
by rabl rwzerOk, so I was a huge fan of Def Lep . . . back when I was in 4th grade the year after Pyromania came out!!! It was completely commercialized power rock that did exactly what record company CEO's and the sound engineers who crafted it wanted power rock to do back then: get you all fired up for no good reason. And that was admittedly TONS of fun (on the 7th grade soccer bus, for example), and still is. Once in a while. The affected stylization of the vocals and lack of creativity got to be too much even for my prepubescent ear by the time Hysteria had been on the charts for a few weeks (6th or 7th grade by that time--don't remember). Enter bluegrass (or jazz, or reggae, or whoever else wants to shake things up).
As a musician, it's fun to hear a different interpretation of fun stuff, and it shows the versatility of different types of music--in this case bluegrass. And although you won't agree with me if your idea of vocals is Joe Elliot shrieking like a banshee and ending every phrase with the "uh" sound (e.g., "Pour some sugar on meeeee-uh!"), these bluegrass guys lay down some sweet and smooth harmonies that just sound awesome. The arrangements and instrumentation are well-balanced and really brings out a more nuanced side to the rhythm of the music.
All that said, I heard enough of this just previewing the tunes that I feel no need to buy it. But that's more because it's a bunch of Def Leppard songs than because it's a bunch of bluegrass remakes of Def Leppard songs. (And just to put all the knocks on DL in perspective, I get damn sick of the whiny, imploring tones of bluegrass singers after a while too.)
HELP!!!!!
by MUSICNUSWhat is this crap..this is a disgrace to Def Leppard..if they ever heard this crap they would stop singing..can we just have the HYSTERIA ALBUM ALREADY!!!!!
