Learn these songs, kiddies
There's much more (excuse the pun from "The Fantasticks") than "Wicked" and "Rent". These are the songs that helped make Broadway what it is. There is a vast history to be learned so do what I did some years ago and listen to what came before you! There's something wonderful ("The King and I" pun, I know) in hearing "A Little Night Music" and "The Most Happy Fella" for the first time. I'm so pleased that the greatly unknown vocal powerhouse Susan Johnson is represented here singing "Ooh, My Feet!" from "The Most Happy Fella"!. There are no belt voices like that nowadays. It's all the screechy pop-belt stuff. And as for the comment obviously made by a child, the 1942 song "Cash For Your Trash" appeared in the 1978 Tony Award winning Best Musical "Ain't Misbehavin" and was performed by Tony winner Nell Carter.
pretty decent
i havent listened to all of them, but from what i heard so far its ok!!!
Knock It Off
I know that most people reviewing this album are only looking at the year and that alone destroys the chance listening to the music. In fact, if people took the time to listen and actually pay attention, they'd realize that most of the biggest broadway legends ever, both performing and composing, aren't necessarily from the day and age but actually from years like 1942. I can speak from experience that having performed in quite a few of these shows, that these are in fact tha classics.
