Before Sandi Patty was a Christian music star, she developed her craft by performing stage standards and pop tunes from the Great American Songbook. Broadway Stories reaffirms her mastery of such material against gorgeous backdrops provided by the 64-piece Prague Symphony Orchestra. From the first track to the last, Patty shows an easy command of the Broadway idiom, applying her formidable pipes to material worthy of her talents. Her setlist is diverse and a little daring; a Sound of Music medley and a bittersweet take on “Send in the Clowns” are complemented by less-expected choices like Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.” Patty especially has fun during “A Doll Sings the Guys”: a zesty medley of Cabaret’s “Wilkommen,” Fiddler on the Roof’s “If I Were a Rich Man” and other tunes made famous by male singers. She gets to smolder soulfully on Show Boat’s “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man” and soar to inspirational heights on Carousel’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Less grandiose but just as winning is her sweet, swinging version of “All of Me.”

EXCEPTIONAL
The joke used to always be "Sandi Patty could sing the phone book and it would sound amazing"...that still holds true. But now...not only can Sandi sing the phone book, she proves she can also sing Broadway!! There is no doubt that Ms. Patty was having the time of her life when recording these songs. Her passion and joy is so contagious you can't help but smile as you hear these songs. Ms. Patty has had a very successful 30+ year career in the Christian Music Genre and those of us who have been fans over those years have no doubt her heart will always be there....but it sure is fun to see her step out for just a bit to offer us this masterpiece. Not only will Ms. Patty's fans of her Christian music love this project but you will see a whole new generation of fans fall in love with her. The Voice, The Orchestrations....this is pure Ear Candy!
No Gospel album
Come now. Sandi may be a gospel singer but this is certainly no Christian/Gospel album. It needs to be re-classed under the Pop category. If someone purchased this thinking that it was a Gospel album then iTunes certainly needs to give a full refund.

If you think this is a gospel album, we may need to give you a reading comprehension test. She is a gospel recording artist who happens to have recorded a Broadway album. If you bought it thinking that the title BROADWAY SESSIONS was gospel, that is your own fault. Plus, its itunes, We have the ability to preview!!!! Enjoy Sandi Patty for all the genres she's able to perform! Enjoy that. Very few artists of ANY genre can branch out and do something different from what their known for. Enjoy the new release or don't. Dont claim you were deceived. She's a wonderful amazing artist and I hear an even sweeter friend.
