iTunes Review
If the old adage that an act’s self-titled album constitutes a musical summing-up is true, Broken Social Scene is making the most of it. After building a high profile on the indie-rock circuit over the past several years, BSS now takes a Tusk-like leap of stylistic omnivorousness. The Toronto-based collective pulls off everything it puts its group mind to here, and its ambition feels unlimited. Broken Social Scene moves from strength to strength, taking in massive-sounding epics (“Our Faces Split the Coast in Half”), trippy side treks (“Finish Your Collapse and Stay for Breakfast,” “Windsurfing Nation”) and the occasional piece of straightforward pop-rock (“Swimmers”). Anyone who’s been impressed by recent Arcade Fire or Hidden Cameras sets will find a lot to like here too.

Very Tasty
Ummmm....I don't think it gets much better than this, and if it did the song would be covered in chocolate and you could eat them.
Amazing Album (iTunes Lacks Bonus EP)
This album is just a continuation of the perfect indie pop that Broken Social Scene love to deliver. "Cause = Time" off of You Forgot it in People is probably one of the best songs ever written, but "7/4 (Shoreline)" isn't very far off. "Major Label Debut" is probably my second favorite, but this album does not dissapoint, all 14 tracks have their high points. Just be careful if you buy this on iTunes, I did and didn't realize that if you buy the actual CD, included there is the "EP to Be You and Me", a seven track EP that any fan would not want to miss.
Wow...And I loved YFIIP
Absolutely wonderful, truly a work of art...I guess the chief concerns are to describe how the album runs and compare it to "You Forgot It In People", which is also a masterpiece. The album is quite different from earlier BSS; they've come a long way from "Feel Good Lost". The members of the band keep growing with every album, as do the songs. 17 people make up the band listing in the liner notes, and four "guests" are also mentioned. The album itself is amazing, and I guess it could be described as somewhat of a merger of the "You Forgot..." and "Feel Good Lost". The songs are fast, trippy, and positively amazing to listen to. You won't find anything nearly as conventional as "Lover's Spit" on here, but you also won't find any songs that tingle your spine quite as much as "Anthems..." did for me. The tracks all fit together quite well, presenting a better album that YFIIP, on the whole. There may have been better highs on YFIIP, but there were also songs that, in my opinion, were not too much more than filler. You will find absolutely none of that here. Sit back with your headphones on and let the album take you away. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. PS: Get the limited edition. The "EP To Be You and Me" is well worth it.
