Oh, the good die young.

I'm thirteen years old. I was born on February 3, 1995. February 3 was the day that Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson, better known as the Big Bopper, and Roger Peterson, the pilot, all died in that tragic plane accident. These were all great musicians, but Buddy remains my favorite above all. My peers are listening to musicians like Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas brothers. Those people wouldn't be anywhere near where they are today without these brilliant musicians. I'm currently working at my local theatre on the Buddy Holly Story. The music is absolutely fantastic. This is rock and roll. Music wouldn't be anywhere near where it's at right now if it wasn't for Buddy Holly and the Crickets. I thank Buddy Holly, JP Richardson, and Ritchie Valens for such amazing music.

Buddy Holly

Buddy Holly set many standards in early Rock & Roll. His voice and style was noticed immediately by disc jokey's around the country. I can clearly remember listening to one of his latest songs over my am radio in the 50's as a young boy. 'The day the music died' (so noted) was the day of his tragic airplane crash. Buddy Holly was quite possibly the finest rock singer of his time. His music is still a treasure today.

Awesome!

Such a great collection of Buddy Holly! So worth it! I live this CD! Listen to the Birth of Rock and Roll! Great CD.

Buddy Holly is perhaps the most anomalous legend of '50s rock & roll — he had his share of hits, and he achieved major rock & roll stardom, but his importance transcends any sales figures or even the particulars of any one song (or group of songs) that he wrote or recorded. Holly was unique, his legendary status and his impact on popular music all the more extraordinary for having been achieved in barely 18 months. Among his rivals, Bill Haley was there first and established rock &...
