George S, Clinton hits one out of the park!!!

A++++!!!! George S. Clinton's EMMY NOMINATED score to HBO's critically acclaimed film, BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE, is not only great music, but is easily one of the best releases of 2007. Known primarily for his over the top comedy scores, such as THE SANTA CLAUSE 3, BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE and the AUSTIN POWERS films, the composer here truly takes the opportunity to break out of his usual mold and has crafted a starkly compelling, dramatic and heart felt score that pushes beneath the layers to portray the emotive plight and decline of the Native Americans in the story. The first track, "WOUNDED KNEE (MAIN TITLE)," starts out with a passive Native American flute solo and soon gives way to building tension in the low laying strings, only to be overwhelmed by rising choir and aggressive percussion. It is both a powerful and beautiful track that readily sets the tone for the rest of the score. However, the preview on iTunes features only the most unexciting moments of this track, and none of the big orchestral parts, so don't be let down on the first listen. Just download and enjoy! Another note: For those looking to compare, and for those who care about such things, the official composer PROMO put out by HBO to promote the films release, has only 11 tracks and a running time of 30:26. Only one track written for the film, "SPOTTED EAGLE SONG" By Darryl McDonald, has been omitted. Tracks 3 (SO BE IT and BURN IT, parts), 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 (SITTING BULL, part) and 16 are NOT featured on the original PROMO. Also, track 18 is about a minute and 16 seconds shorter than on the original PROMO. ~ Scorehead

Little Big Horn

A very outstanding and powerfull score! Mr Clinton hit right on with this one, the main title just rocks and gives you what it would have been like to there on that day at the Little Big Horn. Great cd!!!;-)

This is me.

This is immensely outstanding. I deeply appreciative of this soundtrack, it is so beautifully composed. Chief Sitting Bull was my Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather. And this was amazing, It is almost as if I could feel as if I were there, experiencing everything and just in the moment, from this amazingly written soundtrack. Not necessarily that I wanted to be there, but I felt the heartfelt in it and in my forefathers and family.
