Indelible Grace's 6th project continues their work of setting old hymn texts to new music. This CD marks the beginning of a new series, "Indelible Grace Acoustic."
Indelible Grace - Setting a New Standard
As always, unique and superb work from Kevin Twit and all of the artists of Indelible Grace. This group continues to demonstrate that we can still produce Christian music that is musically relevant to the modern ear without sounding pop-ish and cheesy, and with lyrics that are theologically sound and thought-provoking, not merely mindless religious mantras. Another Great Offering from IG
The lyrics of this album have an increbible depth and beauty, portraying the Gospel in fresh (yet old!) and beautiful ways. While it doesn't have the studio flashiness that IG is more than capable of (due to its nature as an acoustic album), it has a refreshing, indie feel to it.
For example, Chelsey Scott's "A Prayer for the Broken Hearted" has a very Sufjan Stevens-esque horn part supporting the guitar, while "Rock of Ages" is driven by a gently plucked banjo, before appropriately building into a fuller, percussion driven sound on the final verse and chorus.
"Grace Greater Than Our Hearts" and "Salvation to the Lamb" hearken back to IG1 days, driven along by acoustic guitar, with tasteful filler riffs.
But really, the gift that IG continues to give is reviving incredible lyrics that express the whole breadth of the Gospel with fresh, musically relevant melodies.
