iTunes Review

Back in the late ‘90s, Canibus seemed destined for stardom. He started his career appearing with Redman, DMX, and LL Cool J, which soon led to a beef with LL, sparking his breakout hit "Second Round K.O.," produced by Wyclef and featuring a cameo from Mike Tyson. His rugged, no-holds-barred delivery and dense, hyper-lyrical style was a refreshing change from the increasingly corny “shiny suit” rap of the era, and his debut album Can-I-Bus was eagerly embraced by fans around the world. After some ups and down, he’s returned to the music, and has been cranking out increasingly strong material on the independent level ever since. C of Tranquility is his tenth solo album, and quite possibly his best yet, with 15 tracks of grimy but intelligent verses backed by ferocious beats from DJ Premier ("Golden Terra of Rap"), The ARE ("Merchant of Metaphors"), and Domingo ("Pine Cone Poem") among others.

Customer Reviews

Canibus is the Greatest MC in our Solar System.

Canibus is the Greatest MC of All-Time. I have proof.

1. Canibus has worked with Kool G Rap on 5 separate tracks. Eminem has only done it once. If you don't understand it, then you can't argue it.
2. Canibus has worked with Rakim on an official song. Eminem has not.
3. Eminem lied about working with actual rap artists (that are actually good), on Recovery, and instead, he worked with pop stars and a rapper who is actually considered the worst rapper in existence by the real hip hop community (Lil' Wayne)
4. Canibus (whether freestyle or written) surpasses Eminem's lyrical abilities.
5. Canibus works with artists who actually have talent. Eminem looks for those whack southern artists now.
6. Canibus disses MCs with actual abilities. Eminem disses pop stars.
7. Canibus can diss Eminem by himself. Royce da 5'9" has to jump in and help Em when he has nothing to do with it.
8. Eminem went to Best Buy one day and bought "Melatonin Magik." (I have a picture that shows proof.)

G.O.A.T

No rapper goes as deep, if you're too uneducated to know his content that's a confession to your stupidity. Read up on the goetia ritual book, David Flynn temple to the center of time...his lyrics are of content that effects everyone even if you don't know it. The things he mentions are if the very same that politicians and tyrants have been using to dominate and control masses. Wake up people.

Genre: Hip Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Following some underground work and cameo appearances, most notably on Wyclef Jean's "Gone Till November" remix in 1997, hardcore rapper Canibus feuded famously with LL Cool J. The resulting exchanges — Canibus' "Second Round K.O." and LL's "The Ripper Strikes Back," both spirited battle tracks — garnered significant attention. Expectations were therefore high when Canibus unleashed his Wyclef-produced debut full-length, Can-I-Bus (1998), shortly afterward on Universal. Most critics panned...
