Cadia comes across as a two-woman spiritual rescue squad on its 2008 self-titled debut album. Singers Courtney Myers and Tori Smith address the desperate side of adolescent and young adult life in these tracks with a message of empathy and optimism. What sets Cadia apart are Myers and Smith’s crystal-pure vocals and beautifully-fused harmonies. The duo sings with both urgency and confidence, holding out the prospect of hope amidst troubled times in songs like “Safe Place to Fall,” “Trust In Me Now” and “Shadowfeet.” The power of God to overcome fear is asserted in such stirring tracks as the melodically-delicate “Radiate” and the frenetic, almost-punk “Inside Out.” A New Wave-tinged cover of the Martina McBride hit “This One’s for the Girls” underscores the positive tone of the album. For those seeking a dose of inspiration — or a quick blast of teen-pop energy — Cadia will do quite nicely.
