Album Review
Originally released on the small Conversion label, Ignite's 1995 full-length debut, Call on My Brothers, was re-released in 2000 on Revelation right around the time that the group signed with TVT. Along with vocalist/bandleader Zoli Teglas, the recording features Brett Rasmussen on bass, Casey Jones on drums, and guitarist Joe D. Foster. At this phase in their development, Ignite's quasi-punk sounded more angular than many pop-punk revivalists of the day and more melodic and rambunctious than the latter-day hardcore set. Highlights include most of this record's fast-paced material that follows a few pop- and rock-tinged opening cuts. "Should Have Known" is perhaps the best track, and others like "In My Time" and "Sided" stick out among the record's flurry of knockout blows. Ignite left nothing in their guitar cases on Call on My Brothers — an exceptionally tight, furious recording.
Customer Reviews
borderline good ignite album
if you are a fan of early ignite then you will probably like this album. it has some songs on it from their real first album "scarred for life" - and it has a bunch of material that is unique this this album. I like the original ignite singer better than zoli. anyway this is a solid album overall. as you listen to ignites more recent work you can really tell they had more money for production as all ignites albums after this sound way more produced.
