A slow and gratifying cocoon.

This album on Static Discos' sublabel, Verdigris, had sort of a long gestation period. But like the title of the album implies, "Capullo" (Cocoon) is the sort of album that grows on you. I have found in my lifetime, that the records that I love the most are the ones that benefit from repeated listens, like Talk Talk's "Laughing Stock" or Sylvian's "Secrets of The Beehive". I remember the first demos that Orlando sent my way more than three years ago, a lifetime in today's "listen to this now its out there and now its old music" mentality, and they still lacked the soft layers of detail that have made this album such a great release. It is very hard to find in México rockers that actually can write songs, songs that you can remember intensely, and Orlando has the chops for this. I really love the way his voice conjures up a more Latino Rufus Wainwright or a less pained Antony & The Johnsons, this paired with an acoustic and electro pop sound that never grows tired. Im very proud of this release!!!

A fresh intriguing artist

I thoroughly enjoyed this cd. It's highly recommended. What a beautiful sound!

Pop con dignidad

Letrista de composiciones sofisticadas, bien pensadas e inteligentes. Musicalmente accesible y agradable. Pop puro pero con dignidad e intelecto. "Puede Ser" y "Solo Dios Sabe" maravillosas e imprecindibles.

Thanks to journalist Simon Price, the duo became a sensation on the pages of Melody Maker, who grouped Orlando...
