Love It!

I have a friend starring as the lead soprano in this wonderful opera next spring in the Acadian Symphony Orchestra's production (Louisiana). I highly reccomend buying this, it is an extraordinary piece.

Poor, poor quality encoding

Too Lossy? not enough lossless-ness? I have no idea what the technical term is, but this is a great performance marred by a sub-standard encoding. Throughout the work (and especially with headphones on) you can hear the digital pixilation that is caused by too much dumbing down when the files were originally compressed. That's too bad too, because the performances captured here of Ormandy and Co. are unsurprisingly exceptional. Too bad you'll never get to hear how good in this format. There are other versions that sound SIGNIFICANTLY better, and are cheaper to boot (London Phil with Andre Previn is a great one), and they're cheaper too. Only buy this version if you are deaf in one or more ears. It's dreadful.
