The Dark Side Of Christmas

I love this version of Carol of the Bells, it's so dark and just has that voice that makes you think, "Is this a human?" I love it so much and think many people will like it.

Hark how the bells
sweet silver bells
all seem to say
throw cares away....

Original and Inspired

This was the first song I'd ever heard from The Bird and The Bee back in Dec 2007 when it was a free iTunes song for 1 week. After experiencing their unique sound of mixing the old with the new, I was instantly captivated lying helpless at their feet and eager to hear more. One of the greatest assets about Greg & Inara's unique style is that they sound like nobody else and nobody is doing what they do. At least not in the same capacity. First off, they're both true musicians who actually write and play music. They don't just solely feature beats and loops in their songs (unlike most artists today). Whatever loops they utilize is simply for the undercurrent of the groove. They actually play and sing on top of the wave, which is uncommon these days.

For those begging to hear more holiday tunes, seek out "12 Days of Xmas" (originally a free download on their site) and "A Christmas Compromise" (from the Safety Harbor Kids album). That should satisfy your sweet tooth for the time being.

Amazing

I bought this song when it was the free single, and was I blown away. Because of this version of this song, Carol of the Bells has become my favorite to listen to at Christmas. They do an amazing job with this song. It isn't your average Christmas Carol, it is slightly different which brings you in. Everyone should add this to their Christmas song list!

Multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin and doe-eyed vocalist Inara George draw upon a fondness for jazz standards and '60s tropicalia to deliver the stylish tones of the Bird and the Bee. The two musicians were introduced in 2004 by mutual friend Mike Andrews, whom George had enlisted to produce her solo debut, All Rise. Needing someone to contribute piano to several tracks, Andrews called upon Kurstin, who had studied under renowned jazz pianist Jaki Byard during his college years. George and Kurstin...
