Impressive!!!!

I heard of Gatlin Elms for the first time a week or 2 ago and I was hooked! The new album sounds awesome!!! Its very tasteful music.

Great sophomore release!

Gatlin Elms has an amazing gift for crafting lyrics/music and has surrounded himself with amazing musicians who have helped him arrange and create a truly great album. Gatlin has found his own vocal style that is at times "strong enough" to pull off a driving rock tune and at other times so vulnerable that you wonder if he is on the verge of a whisper. Either way, you are drawn in to the accessibility (sing-along-ability?) of his songs as well as the raw, tender emotion. Listen. Rinse. Repeat.

An Honest Assessment

The record you are contemplating buying is one that bears a weight of true, honest-to-goodness, hard work. "Carry Me Home," the latest release by Gatlin Elms, the four-piece band from Houston, Tx, takes you on a journey of struggles, pain, fear, and doubt with a glimpse of hope to round it off.

While having spent two years working rigorously on this record, one would expect only that the end result be something of excellence. I concur, this record embodies excellence in rare form. From the songwriting to the production, mixing, artwork and unusual promotion for the record, all reveal that Gatlin Elms is here for the long haul.

Even with the best records, there lies something that could be improved upon. For "Carry Me Home," the album as a whole, though cohesive in idea, leaves itself lacking in musical completeness. While one would agree that there are not necessarily "fillers" on the album, one might say that there are a couple of tracks on the record that lend themselves as a bridge from the previous Gatlin Elms release or perhaps a bridge to what's to come rather than tracks that flesh out the overall musical theme started in the beginning of "Carry Me Home".

Overall, this is by far one of the best sophomore releases and one that you are guaranteed to connect to in one form or another.
