iTunes Review

Becky, Emily and Joanna Robertson were raised on church hymns and outlaw country music, and their parents Barny and Carter Robertson toured and recorded with Wayon Jennings. Their self titled debut is an impressive album brimming over with memorable songs steeped in outlaw country's roots, country pop ballads, hints of '70s southern rock, and three part sibling harmonies that sound absolutely unparalleled. Carter's Chord (a moniker that refers to a perfect musical triad) were discovered by Toby Keith who (along with their father) co-produced the album. With help from Nashville's A-list songwriters the trio's first single "Young Love" gushes with summery, young, pastoral romance and the sisters' siren-like harmonies carry the song to lofty elevations that just can't be attained by singers without this kind of DNA in their music. "Different Breed" saunters with a slow and seductive tempo and the empowering womanly wit in the lyrics gives the song more edge than the rest. "Summer, Early '60s" (penned by their mother) is hit worthy with its sultry melodies, soulful gospel parts, and captivating narrative. Ol' Waylon would have been proud.
