David Bowie's featured "Putting out Fire (With Gasoline)" is the best part of this otherwise predictable electronic score from the 1982 movie.

under-rated!!!

I had this vinyl record and a crush on Nastasia. I may have out grown one of those, but the music never ages. Some may be thrown off by the techno but the music is haunting. This is more than a few Bowie songs. Just try to ignore the track namess. A memorable quirky 80s soundtrack.

Putting Out Fire With Gasoline

Giorgio Moroder's score to the movie "Cat People" has held up much better than the film itself, one need not have seen the film to appreciate this music. Moroder's synthesizer-based score was cutting-edge at the time and still sounds fresh today. There are some beautifully lyrical passages in addition to the rhythmic, frenetic pieces Moroder is known for. David Bowie's recording of the theme is the original version, "Let's Dance" includes a rerecorded, inferior version.

Cat People, American Gigolo, Fame, Flashdance, Midnight Express. Giorgio Moroder has produced some of the greatest soundtracks of all time. His music is timeless. I have all the above on vinyl and have been listening to him since I was a kid. He is my favorite and still listen to his haunting compositions. He was the man who made Donna Summer who she is.

One of the principal architects of the disco sound, producer and composer Giorgio Moroder was born in Ortisei, Italy, on April 26, 1940. Upon relocating to Munich, Germany, he established his own studio, Musicland, and recorded his debut single "Looky, Looky" in 1969; his first LP, Son of My Father, was released in early 1972.
