iTunes Review
Repetition, repetition, repetition: it’s the cardinal rule of kids’ music, and the first one Dan Zanes lines up to break on this wide-ranging, musically adventurous album of spirituals, Zulu chants, sea shanties, and shaggy-dog folk-rock. But then the former Del Fuegos frontman doesn’t make “kids’ music,” exactly; he makes “age-desegregated” music — meant for entire families, who don’t necessarily need to hear songs about ex-girlfriends and bars, on the one hand, or dinosaurs and fruit salads, on the other. Some of the musical pairings here are so unlikely as to be pure genius: the Kronos Quartet meets Leadbelly on “Grey Goose,” or Nick Cave sounding positively cuddly on “Sweet Rosyanne.” Elsewhere, the Blind Boys of Alabama provide harmonies on the rousing gospel spiritual “Welcome Table” (nicely updated here with lyrics about the civil rights movement), and Natalie Merchant guests on the lovely, lilting “Loch Lomond.” There are familiar voices from past Zanes albums, too, like Barbara Brousal’s vocals on the Spanish-language “Mariposa Olé” or Father Goose’s rowdy dancehall rhymes on “Choo Choo Ch’Boogie” and “Pata Pata.” Cosmopolitan and rootsy at the same time, Catch That Train! doesn’t talk down to kids, because it’s not really talking to them at all — just making great music and hopefully inspiring families to cook up some of their own.

Zanes & Friends Do It Again!
This album is the newest of Dan Zanes & Friends family music cd's and is a welcome addition to their catalog. I have had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Zanes & co. play live with my three year old daughter and bandmate, Zoe, and their recordings are every bit as entertaining as their performances in person. The music on Catch That Train is more rockin than the family folk variety of music the group of friends has also released and is sure to inspire your young one(s) to want to get up, sing along and make some music of their own. Dan Zanes is a modern day troubadour bringing old time music and modern grooves together to help reconnect America and the world with it's rich and musical past. Catch That Train is no exception to this honorable mission and is sure to further inspire children and their parents to get up, dance and make their own music together!
The best party yet
Dan Zanes topped himself again. Parades and Panoramas was fantastic, and everyone loves House Party. This one is another incredible edition to the Dan Zanes collection. The kids will love it!
Dan Zanes is fun music for kids
If your kids watch Disney channel then they will recognize Dan Zanes music. He does a lot of his songs in the morning time between 6:30 to 8:00am. My son loves Dan's music videos on the TV so it made sense to buy the CD. We have so much fun in the morning driving to school listening to Dan and his friends. If you are not familiar with him just turn on Disney in the morning and you are sure to see one of his fun music videos. This music is so creative and really caters to getting kids involved in singing, dancing and playing music. Love the CD. Thank you.
