Album Review
Here's a Christmas album for everyone tired of the same old carols. Toro, a master of Puerto Rican guinaldo (poetic song), gives us a collection of original holiday tunes that will fill the dance floor and heat up the whitest Christmas. The bright horn arrangements and irresistible rhythms might get your feet moving, but Toro's amazing skill at the Cuatro (a type of guitar) will feed your soul. The music evokes both Toro's homeland and the streets of his adopted New York. Even the worst Scrooge will have no quarrel with this terrific disc.

If you like Christmas music from Puerto Rico, then you have to check out MARIACHI JALISCO and their "Navidad Jibara" record. A friend turned me on to it and it is an unbelieiveable reocord for the holidays. It has versions of all the classic Christmas songs from Puerto Rico in Mariachi. Different but great stuff. Listen to the clips and you'll agree.
