A beautiful and passionate album from a rising star!
This album is actually incredible. Most albums only have one or two good songs, but every song on this album is awesome! While comparisons to John Mayer are going to come because both are honest singers, if you really listen in, Mikey Wax is a completely different artist and songwriter. Songs like "Last Great Song" and "Taxi Driver" are more comparable to Billy Joel in their style and exceptional story lines. Not to metion, every new artist gets compared to someone who is already huge because that's all people can relate it to. If this kid is already being compared to the best of the best, that's a good thing. Do yourself a favor and actually listen to this album, and listen close...
Change Again
A great debut album by singer/songwriter Mikey Wax. The arrangements, which are reminiscent of John Mayer, Dave Matthews, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan, are built around Wax's exceptional piano playing skills, but also make free use of a rhythm section and guitar. It's best to think of Wax's lyrics as a vehicle for his expressive voice- certainly capturing the voice of the college and post-college idealistic generation. I strongly recommend.
Amazing Album, Mikey Wax is a great new artist...
This album is one of the most impressive albums from a debut artist I've listened to in a while. Mikey Wax is a talented song writer as you'll hear on every level. This is one of the albums that when you reach the end, and it goes back to track 1, you'll let it play again and again. Every time you listen to the entire album, you're guaranteed to hear something new that will impress you even more. Additionally to his refreshing melodies, the lyrics to these songs are phenomenal. Going hand in hand with the music, his descriptive lyrics paint a picture and tell a story that seems to be a breath of fresh air these days. BUY THIS ALBUM... IT"S WORTH IT
