Album Review
Three albums in and Lifehouse sound comfortable — comfortable in their skin, comfortable working within the constraints of adult alternative radio, comfortable enough to deaden any possible lingering Creed or Stone Temple Pilots comparisons that might have plagued them after their first two records. Here, on their eponymous third album, Lifehouse is a rock band that doesn't rock. They strum acoustic guitars and sing earnest mid-tempo anthems and ballads, all given a slick shine by producer John Alagia, who has previously worked on records by the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz — a collaborator whose very presence indicates how far the group has shifted from its early Brendan O'Brien productions. While some longtime fans will miss the band's harder side, Lifehouse sound, well, more comfortable in this setting, and they've made an album that's smooth, mellow, pleasant, and tuneful, a record that's designed to ease onto the AAA radio waves, where it will politely sit next to songs by Matthews, Mayer, and Mraz.

Airplane
I sat with the band today on a flight from LA to Atlanta. Really great guys, helping people put bags overhead and changed seats with me so I could sit next to my 87 year old father. They were on their way to Virginia for a concert. Bless them all. Try out the song Blind, a favorite of theirs.

A New Sound But Still A Great Band
Being a big fan of Lifehouse's first album, "No Name Face", I must admit I was shocked when I first listened to this Lifehouse album. I was disappointed. The big rock sound and hooks had given way to a smoother, more refined sound. That was the first listen. The more I played this album, the more I liked it. Songs like "Blind" and "Undone" show Wade's range and versatility as a vocalist. I continue to be amazed at the honesty and poetic ability of Wade, whose lyrics are so refreshing in a day where songs have little depth and thoughtfulness. Please don't judge this album by "You and Me". Although it is a radio friendly track, it is not a good indicator of the depth and promise of this band.
Lifehouse is full of life
Can I just say "Wow" to Lifehouse's new album? These guys do it again by bringing songs that are packaged with such heart and soul. Each song is filled with inspiration and a message about life. Of course, my favorite has to be "You and Me;" it's such a romantic song--if you're into the whole romance stuff.
