Charlatans At the Garden Gate is a memorable debut full-length release by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Tristen Gasapadarak. At first listen, her lovely, playful voice and bouncy melodies command the attention, especially on catchy standouts “Eager for Your Love,” “Matchstick Murder,” “Doomsday,” and “Baby Drugs.” However, the true depth of the album is revealed in a variety of details. Sweet harmonies, clever hooks, and colorful instrumentation and textures all add to the overall warm and pleasing sound of the album. Keyboards, synths, strings, and just the right amount of echo turn tracks like “Avalanche” and “Battle of the Gods” into grand compositions without losing any of their pop appeal. Featuring consistently sharp songwriting and no filler among the 11 tracks, Charlatans At the Garden Gate is a thoroughly charming folk-pop gem.

A total gem
I saw Tristen live for the first time last night at The Echo in Los Angeles. She had the album available to buy there, and I have to say-- both live and recorded she sounds amazing.
Charlatans at the Garden Gate
Very strong singer/songwriter debut. Avalanche with its Bolero finale is great. Baby Drugs is a very strong single. Eager for Your Love and Matchstick Murder are excellent. A unique new voice from Nashville.
Charlatans at the Garden Gate
These tunes will stick in your head and have you humming all day long. Tristen is a terrific writer and singer of pop songs that sound uniquely hers - it's hard to compare her to other singers and writers. The harmony-singing from her friends is sharp and inviting. I've had the record for a few days and it's never far from my ears - give it a try!
