Album Review
Singer/songwriter Yoav's debut album Charmed & Strange is an atmospheric and percussive affair that brings to mind a mix of Nine Inch Nails, Justin Timberlake, and Peter Gabriel. At one time a more traditional song writer, Yoav began combining his love of club and electronic music into his compositions and developed a unique approach that relies more on rhythmic figures on his guitar than melodic chords. As such, most of the tracks here largely consist of percussive acoustic guitar lines over which he sings in a yearning, poetic alt rock style. While this is a forward-thinking and cerebral affair, as Yoav has a love of dance music, he often works with funky grooves and rhyming lyrics that should appeal to fans with a club-oriented aesthetic. In that sense, you can think of Charmed & Strange as thought-provoking afterglow cabaret for club kids.

Three words: Radiant, Rare, and Remarkable!!!!!
I just returned home from buying Yoav's new debut album. I have been anticipating it for months after seeing him live, twice, when he backed up Tori Amos's concert. Put it this way, I couldn't get myself to take the cd out exit my truck. I sat and listened to the whole album and was taken away somewhere, I don’t know, for 45 minutes!!! WOW!! It captured and captivated me and an album hasn't done that for me in a longgggg time, especially on the first run-around. It goes from a track like "There is nobody", with balls-to-the-wall guitar riffs that dip and dive and tranquilize, to a song such as "One by One', that is so serene, grabs you in with a certain somberness, and rings emotion right out of ya. I’m not sure what I like best, Yoav's astonishingly placid and tranquil vocal chords, or his talented and remarkable guitar chords and beats. Put them all together and you have a one-of-a-kind work of art!! Mind you, 95% of all the sounds and beats that weave in and out of songs are all done by him on his guitar!! I saw it and heard with my own head! :) What a gifted and artistic person he is. Buy this album; you won’t at all be let down. And thank YOU Yoav for putting out such a remarkable and captivating album in a time where mass produced, plastic , radio friendly tunes seem to rule the industry. You are a brilliant musical creator!! This is going to make a heck of a spring/summer time album!!!! :) Enjoy and indulge!!!
Time for a change
I was one of the lucky ones to see Yoav perform on his Tour with Tori Amos. When he came out on stage with just his guitar I wasn't sure what to expect. Once he started playing I was at a loss of words. He was remarkable. We are lucky to have another unique and individual talent in this industry full of copycats and fakers. And last but not least...this album is great...get it!
Yoav Delivers some Hot Acoustic rock!
I could sit around and listen to this record all day long. I was first introduced to Yoav at the Tori Amos show in Syracuse Ny.. He comes out and goes at it on his guitar and I was just completely mezmerized by him. He is such a talented artist and everyone should check out this record!! Top tracks are Club Thing, Adore Adore, Wake Up, Beautiful Lie and Yeah the End!
