Awesome!
I used to think so-so about the Cheetah Girls, but I went to a concert with Aly and AJ and the Cheetah Girls, and I realized that these girls really are very talented. They work hard, they believe in themselves, and they have eachother. If you are going to buy singles, I suggest that you buy 1,2,4,6,8, or 13. I hope this review helped!
I think Disney's finally taking the hint.
I always found 'The Cheetah Girls' to be a great concept, four different and unique girls singing and dancing their way to all their hopes and dreams against all odds. I think the books are great for young girls, especially in a world with so few good role models for young people. I heard about the movie and thought, that would be great, if executed well. Although they had four really talented girls playing the role (Raven, Sabrina Bryan, Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams from 3LW), the movie was cheesy, and the music was just plain bad. Four such bright talents put to waste. Although it was a hit, Emmys and Grammys weren't coming their way. It's always been Disney's tradition to provide sugary watered down pop music, in favor of more sophistocated music, playing on the whole idea that children will eat up anything you tell them is good. Look at 'High School Musical', worst movie ever made, terrible actors, terrible singing, they even had to have someone dub Zac Efron's vocals (Drew Seeley who makes a much welcomed cameo on the track 'Dance With Me'). And I won't get into the fact that even though it's public knowledge Zac Efron's vocals were dubbed, or 'blended' as they like to say with Drew Seeley, he still won one of the lead roles in the new movie musical version of 'Hairspray'. With the huge success of 'High School Musical', Disney wasted no time in rolling out 'The Cheetah Girls 2', adding 'HSM' director Kenny Ortega to the mix, as well Latin teen pop star 'Belinda' who I like to dub as the latin Hilary Duff, her success on tv and music in Latin America can rival that of Duff's. Disney took it seriously this time, if they were gonna have another massive successful musical, they had to do it right. Which thankfully they did, reminding themselves they had very talented performers to work with. The hip-hop, rock, latin and reggaeton influences found througout the album are a welcome change to the cheesy overproduced bubblegum pop of the first movie. It this soundtrack is a sign of things to come with future Disney Channel projects, then as the Cheetah's put it 'The Party's Just Begun'.
Growl Power... Girl Power? :|
I personally do not like the Cheetah Girls. I don't hate them, it's just come on, like that would really happen. I think Raven, Sabrina, and Kiely have beautiful voices, but it's not my type of music. I think this movie is perfect for girls age 6-10. I'm tired of hearing "cheetahlicious" everyday. But, I think it's a very cute and creative slogan/trademark. However, as a girl myself, I plan to watch it, but I still think High School Musical will be the biggest thing Disney Channel viewers have ever seen. P.S. I hope I did not offend any Cheetah Girls Fans, if I did, I am truly sorry. :)
