iTunes Review
If you wondered why Michael Anthony was replaced by Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang for the Van Halen 2007–2008 North American reunion tour, it’s because he was playing in the high-energy rock band Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar. Along with guitar luminary Joe Satriani and drummer Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chickenfoot are an arena-trained supergroup. Their self-titled debut plays like a supercharged Hagar solo album where his over-the-top, party-guy singing style contrasts well with the flawlessness of Satriani’s disciplined shredding. Anthony and Smith’s rhythmic chemistry fleshes out the sound with competing dynamics. “Soap On a Rope” riffs hard and heavy on fist-pumping power chords that play over a meat-and-potatoes rhythm where Hagar’s chicks-and-cars lyrics give the tune a classic tone that begs to be blasted from the speakers of a customized Chevy van. The sultry “Oh Yeah” slithers with a serpentine cool, sounding like it was carefully crafted to accompany the pole dancers of gentlemen’s clubs.

awesomoniousness
by houdini*rose*loves*chickenfoot!*uh. i waited forever for this to come out. and i tell you, its worth it. if you have listened to Sammy Hagar, you should be able to tell that this album is different that what he's done in the past. this is a group of buddies having fun, and making my musical world so much better.
their first show - seattle - the place was packed. the firemen had to come in because there were too many people crammed in that little venue. im tellin ya, this is a gang good album. Its defiantly different, not a normal rock CD.
Sammy Hagar, yes his voice has gotten older, but in my point of view, its at its best. Joe Satriani continued his godliness on his guitar, even bringing out the double neck for "bitten by the wolf", giving that song an amazing sound. Mike Anthony is on his bass of course, even singing with Sammy to get that harmony. And then the mad Chad Smith is breaking drums, just an animal, or an energizer bunny you could say, banging for that foot tappin beat. I just want more and more, it never gets old for me.
Even look at the podcasts - they're just having a whole lotta fun. A movie is comin out - Chickenfoot live if I'm correct. Cool website, everything is just awesome, and very popular. Haven't heard of Chickenfoot? YOUR INSANE!!!!
Driveing Music
by phil 54This is get in you car, crank it up,drive like hell music!!!!!!!!Great Album!!!!!
This great group of musicans.
by JonesyNorCalI did not rate this ablum higher because I thought was like the rock in the late 70's early 80's. I am what you call heavy metal/thrasher rocker and I saw my first concert at age of 12 in 82 Ozzy at the Cow Palace, SF! I am not musican I am just a working professional. I've seen many, many bands in Bay Area and beyond, I had couple of minutes of fame meeting the promoter Bill G. before he died at a Greatful Dead show in Oakland, CA. My point is I've seen many famous axemen like Paige, YngMalster, etc... in my 30 years and I think when people say this axeman carries a bigger axe than that axeman you kind sound like my dad can beat up your dad, which sad. These two axemen, Eddie whom I seen in 84/08 and seen Joe in late 90's and I say they are two different artist using the same brush "guitar" and creating their own "different" masterpiece. Everybody in rock, prog, speed, death, black, blues, jazz, classical, etc.. Have in some way been influcenced by each other in some spiritual way! So, pay respect to every musican out there cause they were touched by Robert Johnson on the Crossroads in New Orleans, LA. This is no bias suggestion! Peace Out in Westside. Bless all the soliders!
