at last
The music from this soundtrack includes some profoundly beautiful music from some of the greatest composers who ever lived. The performances by The Sixteen and Tenebrae are amazing as always, and hearing the soundtrack makes me want to see the movie. I was especially interested to hear Tavener's "The Lamb" arranged for string orchestra. This was originally a choral piece with words from Blake's poem "Little Lamb who made thee..." And Penderecki's "Threnody" still disturbs after all these years. I was amused to read another review here, which stated that John Williams (or perhaps the reviewer himself) would have done a much better job of writing the soundtrack. I hate to break it to you... John Williams, (a gifted composer to be sure) has been lifting material from Mahler/Tavener/Penderecki for years. If the reviewer hated the soundtrack so much, why five stars???
Pretty Good
Much better than the first Children of Men soundtrack. For more haunting melodies look for Hoppopillia by Sigur Ros. He does the music in the movie trailer. He also has another great album called Takk...
Music to my Ears!
Absolutly Beautiful music. Haunting and would fit with the premise of the film. Do not by the other one under soundtracks. This is what music is and should be like.
