A lovely holiday EP by one of the best singer-songwriters in contemporary folk/Americana music
Short and sweet ... The standards ("Away in a Manger" and "Do You Hear What I Hear") are beautifully rendered with inspired new arrangements (albeit while still being respectful of the traditional melodies), as is the equally timeless "I Heard the Bells." The two originals are the real treat here, though; "Christmas in August" would stand out as a highlight on any of Terri's albums, and "Declan's Cookie" is a spirited Gaelic instrumental that showcases Terri and longtime musical cohort/producer Lloyd Maines at their best. Both tracks are worth savoring long after (and before) the holiday season.
