Great Arrangements, Average Recording
First, the good:
The musical arrangements are beautiful. Sometimes jazzy, sometimes expressive, but never "too much" in that sappy, Jim Brickman sort of way.
The pianist(s) show a sense of refined talent.
The bad:
I work as a studio techie and when they mixed this album, they maxed the audio levels too frequently. Whenever the piano player hits a large or loud chord, there is static--this is as a result of careless production and a sub-par techie controlling the levels. And it isn't just my equipment--I've listened to several of the songs on three different sets of headphones, a stereo, my computer, and on speakers.
Nitpicking aside, it's a wonderful album. Cheers for including "I Saw Three Ships," as it's relatively obscure.
Christmas spirit
This album reminds me of sitting in a nice restaurant and having someone play the piano. The pieces are tastefully done, nothing over the top, but very relaxing. Nice background music for the holidays.
Elegant, Graceful, and Beautiful
These Christmas songs are beautifully played on the piano to give a relaxing feel. It's perfect for a Christmas party, and for the whole Christmas season. It is not so loud that it suppresses all other sounds but it's also isn't so soft that you can't follow the melody. It's the perfect music to listen to while talking to your friends. These music pieces balance their obviousness with their subtleness to create a calming mood, and it's worth every penny.
