The Gift Goes On is Sandi Patty's first Christmas album, and while its production has dated a little, it remains a satisfying listen, thanks to her powerful voice and fine song selection.

Classic Sandi Patty
The Gift Goes On is Sandi Patty's first Christmas album, released in the fall of 1983. While heavy on original compositions, including the original version of "Merry Christmas with Love," it does feature a sprinkling of holiday standards with a traditional and, by later Patty standards, modest version of "O Holy Night," arranged by David Clydesdale. The updated arrangement with full fireworks and a high D-flat can be found on her 1996 release "O Holy Night!" If you're a fan of medleys, this release contains a high-spirited arrangemet of "Rejoice Greatly/For Unto Us a Child is Born" from Handel's Messiah. If you're not a fan, listen anyway to Patty's amazing voice and the technical prowess that left her contemporaries in the dust. A foreshadowing of this sure-fire Patty formula is available on her later holiday recordings, but her first one will always be a true classic.
Christmas......Sandi Style
Everything this woman sings is wrapped with gold. She has honey on her chords with the purist tones you'll ever hear anywhere. "O Magnify the Lord" is truly amazing and will uplift your spirit and reaffirm your faith. There isn't one song on this album that isn't awesome and so beautiful, it almost hurts!
The perfect Christmas album
Sandi Patty has the voice of an angel. This album is so good I can listen to it in the middle of the summer. "Bethlehem Morning" is definetly the best song. Sandi is so good that she could sing the worst song in the whole world and make is breath taking and beautiful.
