Album Review

Christmas 1984 is the first holiday album the Mannheim Steamroller released, and it remains their definitive work. Chip Davis never strayed from the clean, airy instrumental style that he exhibits here (and earlier perfected on his Fresh Aire albums), but it is here where it all sounded fresh. It's also where he had his best selection of songs, tackling a variety of classic carols like "Deck the Halls," "We Three Kings," "Good King Wenceslas," "Wassail, Wassail," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," and "I Saw Three Ships." Some listeners never found the Mannheim formula that engaging, but anyone who his been captured by one of their holiday records should investigate Christmas 1984, which is where it all began.

AMAZING!

I have loved this CD since i was a toddler. it's one of our (many) traditions to listen to this CD while decorating the house, but since we lost my CD, i'm glad that iTunes has it. I forgot how much i loved it. if you want REAL christmas music, not that crummy pop stuff, get this. (and if you like crummy pop stuff, please accept my apologies.) THANKS! Ps. if i could, i would give this a 100 star rating. it's perfect in every way! :-)

A "Must-Have" for the Holiday Season

This CD is fabulous with a bit of traditional carols mixed with contemporary numbers. I have the piano songbook to this and it's enjoyable to play some of my favorite songs on this fantastic album (i.e. "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentleman--Rock version", "Stille Nacht," "Deck the Halls," and others). Please take my advice and invest in this CD to listen to every holiday season. Happy Holidays and God bless!

Crank It UP!

I have always loved this cd and it is one of my favorite Christmas CD's of all time. Nothin brings the christmas spirit like a little Mannheim!
