Customer Reviews

Hey

I dont know if me or the other guy was the first to buy the album, or review it, but man this album is fire !! People from the street would listen to this, no doubt, and then hear the gospel thru This'l. Praise God for this cd, the world NEEDS IT. By the way, i bought the album @ 1am, as soon as i got in the door after work. Actually it may have been 1:10.. I should have wrote a review right away, but i decided to listen to a few tracks first. LOL. God bless everybody. Support Christhiphop. Support THI'SL. Support Jesus.

Great Album!

This is a great album, great mid-west flow and beat selection. Been anticipating this album since the release of the singles! If you are a fan of Flame, Tip Lee, Tedashii, R-Swift, I would definitely recommend picking up this album! Thanks, thi'sl!

8.8 out of 10 rating from CrossRap.com - Silver Medal Winner

For years Thi'sl has been hard at work on the Christian Rap scene. In addition to "Chronicles", he also has two other albums under his belt: "This House I Shall Live" (which is what the name Thi'sl stands for - a reference to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) and "The Ezekiel Project".

However, most fans of the genre will likely be familiar with Thi'sl due to his guest appearances on albums for Flame, R-Swift, and others - or to his involvement with the 116 Clique. Thi'sl's gritty vocals are in high demand, and he seems to lend an instant degree of street cred to the projects that he is a part of.

It was time for Thi'sl to enter the spotlight with a mainstream (in the sense of Christian Rap mainstream) album of his own - enter "Chronicles of an X-Hustler".

The bulk of the album's content is what you would expect for an artist like Thi'sl, who is known for his grimy, rugged, and to the point style.

Instantly we are confronted with a song ("I Hate You") which discusses the devastating affects of crack cocaine - physically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. There is a realness to this song that only a handful of Christian artist' could bring to the table - Thi'sl being one of them.

"Windows Down" - which derives its hook from Trip Lee's verse on Lecrae's smash hit "Jesus Muzik" - is a highly polished anthem that just begs to be played in your car on a warm summer night (or even when its 30 degrees out if you take Thi'sl's suggestion).

Thi'sl on a love song? You better believe it - and it's not a bad one at that! "Baby Girl" paints a picture of the relationship between Thi'sl and his wife, and how they grew together into a couple. The song is a nice change of pace and highlights Thi'sl's increased flexibility as an artist.

Don't worry about Thi'sl getting soft anytime soon though, "Urban Missionary" follows immediately after "Baby Girl" and is one of my favorite songs on the album. In the song Thi'sl describes how he was brought into the fold of God through a 'chance' event in which a pastor introduced him to a rapper who shared the gospel through his rhymes. That rapper's name? None other than Flame!

The album goes out with a bang with "I Ain't Turning Back" which features Flame. Looking for a dose of encouragement? Here it is. In the words of Thi'sl himself "This my 300 music.. I'm 'bout to get my Leonidas on fam!" I couldn't have said it better myself.
