Album Review
At the time of the release of her debut, Circle of One, Oleta Adams was best-known as the impassioned backing vocalist on Tears for Fears' 1989 album The Seeds of Love; most prominently featured on "Woman in Chains". About a decade later, she was best-known for "Get Here": a gospel-tinged belter later revived by one Justin Guarini as his showpiece on the 2002 phenomenon American Idol. This, of course, proves that even small hits have an unexpected shelf life, and anybody who decides to go back to Adams' debut may not find anything quite as good — though the other single, "Rhythm of Life," comes close — it's nevertheless a high-class, quality, contemporary R&B record that perhaps sounds a little bit too much like its year.

Stellar Debut!
Oleta Adams is one of those unique and unforgettable voices. Her story makes her music even more original. While performing in a night club in Kansas City, she was "discovered" by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith -- better known as Tears For Fears -- they were so entranced by the rich texture of her voice that they invited her back to London with them where they were hard at work on their next album, "The Seeds of Love." Oleta performs on several tracks on that album, including the powerful "Woman in Chains." This debut album, which went platinum, is truly not a dissapointment. On the contrary, it simply validates the amazing talent Oleta has for a jazzy, and hypnotic performance. "Get Here," (track 2) became the anthem of the U.S. military during the first Gulf War. Definately worth your time.
Full of it....
Soul and presence that is. This is highly recommended and tops on my list. Simply a must have.
Icon to mimick
Favorite. I have been a fan for years. I am only 26 years old and she still remains my favorite of all time. Hands down! She is a talented vocalist and I only hope to touch people with my voice as she does with hers.
