Float along . . .
The Sky Drops may be the brooding, atmospheric little brother to the White Stripes. Whereas Jack and Meg are full of blues infused rock, The Sky Drops meander through my headphones, allowing me to float down the sidewalk. They may have a touch of the "shoegazer" lable that sometimes accompanies descriptions of The Dandy Warhols or Brian Johnstown Massacre, but The Sky Drops seem a little less strung out and a little more honest with their approach. Do yourseld a favor and buy this immediately.
Melodies, harmonies, and hooks!
Many people attempt to make "shoegaze" music with merely a wall of guitars drenched in reverb and delays and with little attention to strong songwriting and catchy vocal melodies. The Sky Drops are not one of these bands. This duo produces memorable songs that you will have running through your head after one listen. I am not trying to put them in a box because they do have their own unique sound, but to me they are like the White Stripes meets My Bloody Valentine. That's like chocolate and peanut butter! What a combination!
