iTunes Review
This tribute to one of country music’s most esteemed singers is packed with an interesting line-up, from mainstream country acts to alt-country to Jack White, who produced Lynn’s Van Lear Rose. It’s a solid collection where some singers sing it straight and others look to give it their own spin. Jack White’s the White Stripes, naturally, go the furthest out with “Rated X,” creating an emotional freakout that’s plenty cool. Gretchen Wilson’s a natural fit for “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind).” Lucinda Williams adds her usual tear-jerkin’ delivery for “Somebody Somewhere (Don’t Know What He’s Missin’ Tonight.” Kid Rock pumps up the pace with “I Know How.” Allison Moorer and Steve Earle use a great mix of traditional country instruments and a strong martial beat for “After the Fire Is Gone.” Paramore takes an acoustic guitar and pulls off “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man).” Faith Hill brings out the modern country firepower for a powerful “Love Is the Foundation.” Lynn herself joins Miranda Lambert and Sheryl Crow for her signature tune, “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” The woman deserves every tribute she gets.

Carrie Underwood sounds amazing. I love her voice and I love how that girl can sing anything and sound great. The song is pure country and the twang is adorable. Her cut is the best on the album and Loretta Lynn picked the right artist to sing this song. Carrie sounds great. She really can sing anything.
