Album Review

Taken on its own, Volume 3: Further in Time is a fun, multi-textured album that combines a club groove with traditional sounds from Celtic music, Africa, and beyond. However, it does little to distinguish itself from previous Afro-Celt Sound System releases, so for people familiar with the band's previous work, the formula seems to be wearing a little bit thin. One highlight is "When You're Falling," which features a guest vocal from Peter Gabriel, but even that pales next to Sinéad O'Connor's cameo on the previous Afro-Celt release.

Excellent Album

Contrary to the blurb, I found this to be a strong showing from the group. Also omitted is a reference to the other guest vocalist, Robert Plant. His excellent contribution, "Life Begin Again", could very well be considered a lost Led Zepplelin song, and a very good one at that. "The Silken Whip" and "Persistence Of Memory" are comparable to some of their best earlier songs such as "Nevermore" and "Rise Above It". The rest of the songs are not as strong, but still worthwhile. Highly Recommended Rocky/Nydhogg

just for one song...

this is a great album, but 'when you're falling' is one of the great songs of all time, and it's one of peter gabriel's best performances. a must.

Does this album have the wrong version of Lagan?

I might be going crazy, but I think this album includes the wrong version of Lagan. It sounds identical to the remix from Pod, and there should be singing.

Otherwise, the album is amazing.
