Hooray for the Madness

A lot of people associate Motion City Soundtrack with happy go lucky, pop punk, dance-all-the-time music. However, for me, this isn't the case. To be honest, I thought I was going to be let down with this album, but instead, I ended up finding my favorite band of all time. Many people don't understand why I like MCS so much, but it's because when I first bought Commit This to Memory, it was basically every emotion I've every felt sung back at me. Justin Pierre captures the essense of cynicism and self-loathing in his lyrics, which at first glance, is hidden under the moog-laced pop-punk sound. L.G fuad, Hangman, and Togther We'll Ring in the New Year are the real gems of this album, while Everything is Alright, Feel Like Rain, and Timed Turned Fragile are for the times when everything does seem like it's gonna be alright. I love this album, I love this band, and in my opinion, they are severly underrated. Buy this album.

Must buy! 10/10 L.G. Fuad- Great melody and lyrics- 9.5/10 Better Open the Door- Definitely the worst song on this album- 7.5/10 Together We'll Ring.....- Very sincere, amazing lyrics- 9.0/10 Hangman- One of my favorites- 9.5/10 Hold Me Down- Slower, but still brilliant- 9.5/10 Overall- 93. This is one of my favorite albums. Definitely the best Motion City Soundtrack album

One of my favorite albums of ALL-TIME

OK, this WHOLE album is insanely awesome, but here's my breakdown:

(1) Attractive Today (10/10): There couldn't have been a better intro!! I was pretty mad that it's only about a minute and a half, because it's catchy, powerful, just awesomeness. Leads perfectly into Everything Is Alright

(2) Everything Is Alright (10/10): 2nd favorite on the album, and even though it's their popular song, well, it's popular for a reason!!!

(3) When 'You're' Around (9/10): Possibly the most overlooked song of the album. Awesome track.

(4) Resolution (8.5/10): As much as I wanted to like this song, I just couldn't. The refrains great, but the rest of the song...just ok

(5) Feel Like Rain (9.5/10): Catchy song, another one of my favorites. Also slightly overlooked, this song's amazing

(6) *Make Out Kids* (20/10): BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM in my opinion. It took a while to grow on, but how could you not love the horray for madness anthem??? catchy, AWESOME lyrics, fantastic. and i loooove the part that kinda sounds like vampire weekend haha.

(7) Time Turned Fragile (9.5/10): powerful song with awesome refrain and lyrics =)

(8) LG FUAD (10/10): who COULDNT love this song??? awesome music AND lyrics! Justin's voice sounds great here too!

(9) Better Open the Door (9.75/10) ALMOST a 10, there was just something....just a LITTLE something missing. but "u better open the door, before put a hammer to the walls around it!" is still one of my other favorites

(10) TWRITNY (7.5): Nothing against soft songs, but I just didn't understand why this song was here =/

(11) Hangman (7.5): This song just hurt. I don't get it AT ALL

(12) Hold Me Down (10/10): Maybe one of the saddest songs i've ever heard, but still awesome!!!

A leading light in the punk-pop genre, Motion City Soundtrack includes members Joshua Cain (guitar), Tony Thaxton (drums), Justin Pierre (vocals/guitar), Jesse Johnson (Moog), and Matthew Taylor (bass).
